Many of you wonder about the differences in the biobay in Vieques ( is it worth the trip?) and the biobay in Fajardo. The very nature of nature is that it changes all the time, so you could have an equal experience in either lagoon.
There are many reasons to make the trip to Vieques if your time allows. You can actually swim in the biobay in Vieques ( at least for now) and you are not allowed to in Fajardo. The beaches of Vieques are exquisite but you need a rental jeep to really see them so the ‘overnight’ trip to Vieques may be fun but you will miss most of the beauty of Vieques.
El Yunque rainforest is on your way to the Fajardo biobay from San Juan. The water taxis from Las Croabas and the private snorkeling charters all leave from the same cement dock as the Fajardo biobay tours.
I believe that they are not allowed on Sunday nights anymore, but not completely sure… You could call ‘Kayaking in Puerto Rico’ and they would tell you.
